Be it known that...
Well, things are going swimmingly. It's been a long time since I took a state regulated exam, and I'm definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed especially when it comes to numbers, but by God's grace they passed me! There is some dedication that goes into being a licensed professional. Kudos to all of you out there.
So this little piece of paper will allow Done Ripe Gardens to do something very unique. Not only can we provide a food garden with a separate irrigation system, but we will now have the capability to integrate with already existing state-of-the-art technology that is getting more advanced every year. Moisture/rain sensors, wind/freeze sensors... are there "sun" sensors?? The possibilities are exciting when I think of how these advances can affect the future of urban gardening.
The most critical thing I learned from my study on landscape irrigation is the importance of water conservation. I have always been in love with water, but now have a new appreciation for this very limited resource.
I've been given the opportunity to collaborate with Dallas-based, Smart Outdoor Services' President, Amanda Griffin, to gain irrigation training and expertise in the coming year. SOS specializes in solutions for residential and commercial irrigation systems using a holistic approach to save water and preserve landscape health and investment. Can't wait to get some more experience under my belt so I can really get the benefit moving toward our first passion... growing food!
Now I get to do something I've been waiting months for - adding my license number on the company truck! :) It's the little things ain't it?
